It takes a lot of courage to realise that you are not coping or need help.  You may have many questions, which may include the following:

How many sessions will I need?

Every client who comes to counselling is unique and therefore it is not possible to predict how many sessions you may need.  Some clients need a few sessions, others may need longer term therapy.  My aim is to ensure that you receive the right level of counselling for you in the shortest number of sessions possible, this means that I have trust in you to decide when you no longer need therapy.


What sort of problems can counselling help with?

These can include: anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationships, work related issues, bereavement and loss, sexual identity, trauma, addictions, spirituality, abuse, mid-life transitions, personal development and trauma.


Do I have to commit straight-away?

No, I appreciate how much courage it takes to ask for help and at no time will I pressure you in to doing something that you don't want to do.  I offer an initial 30 minute face to face or telephone session  in order for us to discuss what expectations you have and whether we feel that we can work together. If you decide that you would like me as your counsellor, then I will endeavour to work with your best interests at heart, however, if you decide that you would not like this then I will respect your choice without prejudice.


Why don't you counsel individuals under the age of 16?

In order to work with clients who are under the age of 16, a qualification in Child Counselling is required, as it is a specialist type of therapy and uses different counselling approaches and skills.
